About TSP Turf

"Committed To Growing Partnerships"

Whether it is partnerships with our customers, our vendors, or our employees, TSP is all about partnerships.

In 2008, TSP set out to define this thought of “partnerships”. We needed something that truly represented our commitment to how we run our business. “Committed To Growing Partnerships” is the tag line we came up with. This sentence is more than just a sentence to us, it is a commitment that every person at TSP must believe in and strive to meet every day they come to work.

The word “Growing” in this sentence is the key word. Sure we are in an industry that “grows” grass and it was a clever play on words but, as you surely know, growing grass is more than just planting it and forgetting about it. It takes water, fertilizer, grooming and daily care to make sure the grass continues to grow. Just like growing grass, growing partnerships takes more than just selling products to our customers or issuing paychecks to our employees. It is a process that takes time and care. It is the service after the sell that we strive to provide to our customers. It is the fun, family oriented, enjoyable atmosphere we try to provide to our employees. We hope to have a chance to demonstrate that commitment to everyone who considers doing business with us.

Our History

(1984 - 2001) Wilson and Sons, Inc. History

Wilson and Sons, Inc. (WSI) was founded by Al Wilson. WSI was a sister company of Wilson and Sons Garden Center, a company created by Al, his father, and his brother, that was a nursery, garden center, and landscape design company. WSI was an irrigation installation company that started in the residential/commercial landscape irrigation market. In the late 1980′s, WSI started installing irrigation on athletic fields and then moved on to irrigation installation on golf courses in the early 1990′s. Irrigation installation continued throughout the 1990′s and into the early 2000's.

(1994) Tri-State Pump & Control, Inc Founded

In 1994 the service department of WSI was incorporated as Tri-State Pump & Control, Inc (TSP). TSP was born in the Carolinas, founded by Carolina natives and is committed to providing quality service and products to the Carolina’s golf market. TSP’s commitment to service allowed for continued growth during the remainder of the 1990's.

(1999) New Pump Station Manufacturing Facility

In 1999 TSP constructed a brand new pump station manufacturing and service facility. This 18,000 square foot facility is located on 5.5 acres in Liberty, South Carolina and serves as the TSP company headquarters.

(2001) - Wilson and Sons, Inc. Closes

To pursue different opportunities, WSI closed its doors in 2001 and started operating completely under the name of Tri-State Pump & Control, Inc. TSP picked up the distribution lines of Bear Irrigation and Signature Controls (now both owned by John Deere) and sold irrigation product to golf courses in the Carolinas.

(2003) Exclusive Distributor of Rain Bird Irrigation

In 2003, as a result of their many service relationships, TSP was selected as the exclusive distributor for Rain Bird golf products in upstate South Carolina and North Carolina. In 2008, only 5 years later, TSP had the honor of being named Rain Bird’s Distributor of the Year at the Golf Industry Show in Orlando, FL.

(2005) TSP Academy Founded

In 2005, TSP founded TSP Academy to help superintendents and their staff to train and educate themselves in turf management applications. TSP Academy allows the expertise and knowledge that the company’s employees had acquired over 20 years in the industry to be shared with industry other professionals.

(2008) New Distribution Facility Built

In 2008, TSP experienced more growth by adding a 17 acre track of land adjacent to its 5.5 acres and building a 27,000 square foot facility in anticipation of adding to its product offerings in the Carolinas.

(2008) Exclusive Distributor of Jacobsen Turf Equipment

Shortly after, TSP was selected as the exclusive distributor of Jacobsen Turf Equipment products in North and South Carolina (with exception of the coastal regions from Wilmington, NC to Charleston, SC). Less than two years later, due to the strength of relationships TSP had in those markets, Jacobsen announced that TSP would be the exclusive distributor for all of North and South Carolina.

(2009) New TSP Academy Training Facility Built

Acquiring the extra in 2008 allowed TSP to build a demo and training facility to showcase all of its product lines. This allows TSP’s customers and prospects to come to TSP’s campus and train or try out all the products the company offers.

(2013) TSP Wins Jacobsen and Smithco Dealer of the Year awards

At GIS 2014 in Orland Fl, TSP was named Dealer of the Year for both the Jacobsen and Smithco product lines.
